Helping Neglected and Abandoned Horses in Interior Alaska

One Horse at a Time

Equine Ethos was created to serve the abandoned and neglected horses in Alaska. There has been a desperate need for a horse rescue in the interior for years, and we hope that Equine Ethos can bring top-of-the-line care and medical treatment to the interior horses in need.

Giving Horses a New Lease on Life

Equine Ethos is the passion of a number of people, whose mission is to support the health and well-being of abandoned or neglected horses in the interior of Alaska. Through community outreach and the support of our awesome crew of volunteers, we seek to provide the best care and medical support to the horses that come through our doors.

Each horse is given the time to heal both mentally and physically. After being medically cleared, all of our charges are handled daily by our volunteers. Each horse is unique, so each horse will be individually evaluated for temperament and training before being placed in a new home. It is our goal that each horse we rescue will be rehabilitated and rehomed.

Rescued Animals That Go On to Rescue and Uplift Lives

With the creation of Equine Ethos, another idea surfaced. What would happen if we used rescued horses in need of love and companionship to help support at-risk people in our community?

With that thought, Stride Into Hope and The Arctic Warhorse Project were created.

Stride Into Hope was created to help at-risk youth and individuals recovering from substance abuse to conquer their fears and insecurities, giving them a new outlook on life.

Alaska has more Veterans per capita than anywhere else in the United States. Fairbanks, as a community, knows the struggles that our friends and family face when they separate from the Military. The Arctic Warhorse Project was designed especially to help veterans and other people suffering from the effects of PTSD.
